How do you choose your shoes

How to choose your running shoe size

In order to feel really comfortable while running and to achieve optimal performance, the right running shoe is essential. Above all, the right size is crucial. Surely you know the feeling of too tight shoes or the opposite of too loosely fitting shoes, in which the foot then slips back and forth and does not find a hold.

Here are our tips to find the right size of running shoe.

1: Measure feet

In order to find the right size running shoe, one has to know and measure the length of the foot. It's easier than it sounds at first.

The aim is to measure the length of the foot from the heel to the foremost point of the big toe.

  • Put the Foot on a sheet of paper, that you lay on the floor against the wall
  • Lean against the wall and step on the sheet of paper with your foot so that your heel is against the wall at the back. The paper and foot must be pressed against the wall.
  • Pull a line there with a pencilwhere the big toe stops
  • Then measure with one Straight line the distance between the edge of the paper and the drawn line according to: this is your foot length

2: Allow room for maneuver

You have probably already noticed that your feet swell up a little with physical activity.

By adding 0.5 cm to 1 cm to your foot length when choosing your shoes, you can help prevent tightness and blisters. Often this is a plus of ½ or 1 shoe size.

Our tips:

  • Plan + 0.5cm if you cover less than 20 km on each run
  • Plan for +1 cm if you cover more than 20 km per run

3: Choose the right shoe with the increased foot length

Each brand cuts a little differently. Depending on the brand, you can use the following table to find the length in centimeters or the appropriate shoe size.

    Altra running running shoes

Altra shoes - running & trail

Altra is a young American running brand founded in 2009. For a long time only sold in North America, this brand of running and trail shoes has become known for its concept of zero drop. The idea is that the heel and forefoot should be on the same level to reproduce the stride of a barefoot run.
This zero-drop concept has made Altra runners and runners looking for a natural position with always a foot protection successful. Altra shoes are also characterized by a wider forefoot than traditional shoes to allow greater freedom of movement.

    Asics running shoes

ASICS: The leader among running shoes

In 1977, Asics was officially born, an acronym for Anima Sana In Corpore Sano (a healthy mind in a healthy body) on the occasion of the merger of Onitsuka Tiger and GTO Sports Nets & Sportswear. The brand therefore attaches great importance to its philosophy of a healthy and sporty lifestyle.

Asics is a leading supplier in the running shoes market, thanks in particular to the following products, GEL NIMBUS and GEL KAYANO. The company would hardly have had the same success if Kihachiro Onitsuka's mother hadn't served him octopus vinaigrette for dinner: the manager actually took inspiration from the squid's tentacles to give his shoes a sufficient level of adhesion that is necessary in sports.
