Gamora became one of Thanos' foster children when he kills half of her race. He raised her to be an extremely capable fighter and assassin.

She turns against Thanos and becomes a member of the Guardians of the Galaxy when she realizes that her father will completely wipe out Xandar for Ronan - she can't reconcile that with her conscience.

Life [edit | Edit source]

Childhood Edit source]

When Gamora was a child, her people were attacked by Thanos. Thanos took Gamora and trained her to be a powerful fighter.

Guardians of the Galaxy Edit source]

Thanos sent Ronan Gamora and her adoptive sister Nebula as servants to help him get the orb in which the power stone is located. One of Ronan's men failed to get the orb as it was stolen from Earth by ex-Ravager and outlaw Peter Quill / Star-Lord.

Ronan carried Nebula to get him the orb, but Gamora was able to convince him to send her. She secretly pursued the plan to flee with the orb and sell it to the collector for 4 billion units.

During this mission, Gamora was arrested by the Nova Corps and imprisoned in a maximum security prison. While in custody, she joined forces with Peter Quill, Rocket, Groot and Drax to form the newly formed Guardians of the Galaxy, whereupon she was able to escape.

When they want to sell the orb to the collector, they discover that there is an infinity stone inside. They decide to flee and later hand the stone over to the Nova Corps. However, Ronan now attacks himself and steals the orb.

The Guardians, some Ravager groups and the Nova Corps oppose Ronan when he tries to get to Xandar to destroy the planet with the help of the power stone. The Guardians manage to steal from Ronan, secure the stone and hand it over to Nova Prime

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 Edit source]

After Peter Quill's father showed up, Gamora traveled to Ego's home planets with Peter and Drax. After a short fight with Nebula, which the Guardians had chased, they found the remains of all previous Ego children, i.e. their dead bodies or skeletons. Gamora realized at that moment that ego was only up to bad. They saved Peter and in a final battle, in which Yondu, Groot and Rocket were also present, they managed to destroy ego's core and thus kill him. But Yondu dies when he sacrificed himself to save Peter's life. After Yondu's funeral, Gamora and Peter get closer.

Avengers: Infinity War [edit | Edit source]

After Thor brought the bad news that Thanos had already snatched two Infinity Stones and was now on the way to the Collector, who owned the Reality Stone, the Guardians split into two groups. Gamora went to Knowhere with Star-Lord, Drax and Mantis to stop Thanos there. Gamora asked Peter beforehand, however, that he should kill her if Thanos should take her captive, because she knew the way to the soul stone.

After Thanos actually managed to capture Gamora, Peter shot her after some hesitation, but Thanos turned his shots into bubbles with the help of the Reality Stone. He then takes her to Sanctuary II, where he threatened to inflict great pain on Nebula if she did not reveal where the soul stone was. After a while she revealed the hiding place of the stone: Vormir.

Arrived on Vormir, Red Skull, the guardian of the stone, told them that whoever wants to be worthy of the soul stone must make a great sacrifice: a person he loves. Thanos hesitates briefly, but promptly pushes Gamora off a cliff, whereupon Gamora dies. When Thanos has flipped his finger, he ends up in the Soul Stone world, where he meets Gamora's ghost, who appears as a little girl.

Super powers [edit | Edit source]

  • Superhuman strength: As a rip-off, Gamora is stronger than humans and many other species, so she can overwhelm most opponents in combat. She has proven her strength by being able to effortlessly lift Mantis by her neck with one hand and pin it to a wall, breaking Groot's Rebbinder with nothing but her strength, and holding up the dropped cannon of a crashed M-ship. She was steered by Nebula, who did a lot was larger than she was before he used it to shoot the ship.
  • Regenerative healing factor: Bio-augmentations have given Gamora the power to regenerate quickly from most injuries or infections.
  • Superhuman agility: As a bionically improved trickery, Gamora has a high degree of agility, which gives her an advantage over her opponents, for example when she was able to jump at enormous heights while helping the other guards escape from the Kyln.
  • Improved resilience: Gamora's bionic enhancements and the advanced physiology of her species allow her to withstand physical harm. Gamora was able to survive, or at least endure briefly, various ailments that would be fatal to a normal human, such as severe electric shocks, space exposure, or extreme trauma.

Skills [edit | Edit source]

  • good hand-to-hand fighter: Gamora was trained as an assassin and is a master fighter and sniper. Under the leadership of Thanos, Gamora received extensive training in armed and unarmed combat. As a result, she is an extremely talented swordsman. Gamora was able to throw a knife with such accuracy that it caused Quill to drop the ball from his hand while he ran away from her without amputating him.
