From an Ayurvedic point of view, rheumatism can be cured

In Ayurveda, every joint, every cartilage, every tissue is regarded as living tissue. Where there is life, change is also possible. While conventional medicine regards rheumatism as an inflammatory process, Ayurveda knows that rheumatism is caused by too much Ama and an increased Vata. Ama is the Sanskrit term for the metabolic residues that remain in the body when they cannot be metabolized. This happens when the wrong thing was eaten at the wrong time. If something that is difficult to digest is consumed in the evening, this food can no longer be completely metabolized, because in the evening Agni, the digestive fire, goes down. As a result, Ama remains in the body and clogs the fine tubules in the body.

When the digestive fire is too weak

Agni, the digestive fire, burns most strongly at noon. The main meal should now be consumed, because Agni, the digestive fire, now has real power and can digest the lunch meal well. The prerequisite here, however, is that the midday meal has also been selected according to the type of Dosha. Find out more about the doshas here.
You can think of Agni as a fire. It is located in the middle of the body and regulates digestion. It is not that strong in the morning, which is why Ayurveda recommends an easily digestible breakfast, preferably a warm porridge. At midday, like the sun, it unfolds its full power and in the evening the digestive power decreases again. The traditional Ayurveda cuisine recommends a light vegetarian meal in the evening. However, since many people only have time to eat in peace in the evening and because they are too demanding during the day, they often have the feeling that they have to reward themselves with a meat meal, too much ama is created. And Ama is the reason that Agni is getting weaker and weaker.

Rheumatism = weak agni and increased vata

However, a weak Agni alone does not allow rheumatism to develop. But when the Vata-Dosha is increased, it mixes with Ama and the Vata-Ama arises. Now the development of the disease rheumatism is really picking up speed, because the Vata-Ama also combines with Kapha and spreads in the bone tissue.
Vata, this bio-energy stands for lightness, movement and imagination, increases if you do not pay attention to your strength. If you are constantly overwhelmed, sleep too little, work a lot on the computer, hectic everyday life and are constantly busy with the smartphone, then Vata increases. The result is that sleep worsens, restlessness and nervousness increase, fears and worries become widespread and decisions can no longer be made. When these symptoms occur, and it is really enough if only a few of them are noticeable, then the Dosha Vata is elevated. And now the unfavorable eating habits, then the way for the disease rheumatism is prepared.

Ayurveda strengthens Agni, the digestive power

In order to treat rheumatism with Ayurveda, one first works on the digestive power. In Ayurveda, rheumatism is effectively treated with a Panchakarma cure. A Panchakarma cure first strengthens Agni, the digestive fire, then Ama is expelled. In contrast to conventional medicine, Ayurveda attaches great importance to the connection between diet and lifestyle. Unlike conventional medicine, Ayurveda assumes that an acquired imbalance can also be brought back into balance. The nice thing about it is that no pharmaceutical drugs are required and that no side effects can spoil life. An experienced Ayurveda therapist puts together the appropriate menu to stimulate Agni, the digestive fire, again. This takes about three to five days.

Panchakarma cure and rheumatism

After this preparation, ghee, the clarified concentrated butter, is used. Ama that has accumulated in the cells is released by ingesting ghee. Enemas also help that the loosened waste products can be removed from the intestine. The stamp massage is felt to be particularly pleasant because it cools the inflamed joints very pleasantly and at the same time releases ama from the cells.
A Panchakarma regimen is actually a detox regimen. Toxic deposits are loosened from deep within the cells and excreted by the normal metabolism. It is particularly helpful to drink hot water, which is always available to you during the Panchakarma cure.

With oil massages for pain relief

The oil massages are the royal highlight of every Panchakarma cure. They are prescribed as individually as people are individually. The clinical pictures also differ from patient to patient and so the Ayurveda therapist decides which oil massages are the most suitable. If the rheumatism is still at an early stage, a single Panchakarma cure can already lead to freedom from pain. However, the prerequisite is that the patient follows the Ayurvedic diet and life recommendations after the cure. But even with long-standing illnesses that required the use of cortisone or methotrexate, an improvement can be expected for everyone. If you repeat the cure two or three more times and you adhere to Ayurvedic recommendations in the meantime, there is a good chance of significant relief. At the very least, it is very likely that the medication can be reduced to a much lower dose. That alone is a worthwhile goal.
