How is Japanese culture different from Korean?
How to distinguish between Japanese, Korean, and Chinese
Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese are very different, but their ethnic similarities confuse many people. This is ironic because I personally find it more difficult to distinguish people from Western or European countries than from Asian, where I can easily identify their country of origin.
I decided to write this guide to help you differentiate between Asians, Japanese, Koreans, and Chinese. First of all, it should be remembered that not only the Japanese, Chinese or Koreans have small or drawn eyes. Most of the countries in the Middle East and Asia and even the Indians in Brazil raised their eyes.
Another interesting piece of information is the word dragged, which is also an insult, although it is used to describe the difference in the eyes. That's because Asian and Western eyes are the same in size and shape. The only thing that changes is that Asian eyes don't have this crease in the upper eyelid, which leaves a larger part of the eye covered by the skin. Simply put, Japanese eyes are neither smaller nor slanted.- - -
How do you distinguish between Japanese, Chinese and Korean by language?
The first notable difference between Asians is their language. When you hear Japanese speak, you can easily tell apart from Chinese or Korean. This is because the Chinese language is tonal and has multiple syllable variations, while Japanese never changes the syllables. Korean is somewhat similar to Chinese pronunciation, but it is very different.
One example that I see a lot is the pronunciation of the "R". The Chinese usually don't pronounce the R correctly and always speak the L instead. The Japanese are the opposite, they cannot speak an L because there is no L in the Japanese language. Chinese speak: pastel de flango, while Japanese speak pasuteru de furango.
Another very simple way of distinguishing them is by name. Japanese names usually have more than 4 letters and do not have names with V, M, L or ending with a consonant. The Chinese and Korean names end with consonants and mainly M, NG, N and usually have 3 letter names. Of course, if the person is just a descendant with a western name, then you need to hear the last name.
Many believe that the Chinese and Japanese scripts are practically the same, and therefore come to the conclusion that they are the same languages. We have already written an in-depth article explaining differences in Japanese and Chinese you can read by clicking here.
I summarize by saying that the Chinese language is full of hyphens (他們 有 理性 和 良心), Japanese has few hyphens in most letters (私 は ケ ビ ン で す), while Korean is hyphens and polka dots (보기 가 역겨워) .
Physical differences between Japanese, Chinese and Koreans
It is not easy to determine which Asian citizenship you have Skin colorbut we can see that some Chinese tend to have slightly darker skin and Koreans have lighter and smoother skin. The face Japanese are generally wider, long, and triangular in shape, while Koreans have square jaws, more prominent jaws, and higher cheekbones. The Chinese tend to have rounder faces.
Japanese eyes tend to be tilted upwards as opposed to the Chinese who tend to tilt downwards. Koreans, on the other hand, have smaller eyes. At the heightThe Koreans win with an average height of 1.71 meters, the Japanese with an average of 1.69 and the Chinese with 1.68 in second place.
In memory of hairNowadays this is very diverse so it is impossible to define it. It is believed that Koreans, at least traditionally, had long hair pulled back in the past. The Chinese had combed and wavy hair, and the Japanese hair was curved at the end and covered the forehead.
How to differentiate by style, fashion and culture
Another way to differentiate Japanese, Chinese, and Koreans is by their style, fashion, and culture. Fashion is relative and goes by very quickly, especially in Japan, fashion is very diverse and unique. The Chinese are more interested in wealth and less in design and colors. So it is normal to find Chinese with shiny and expensive things, jewelry, gold and a lot of western fashion.
In Japan, however, fashion is also a mix of tradition and modernity, sweet things, colorful and unique. In Japan, fashion and style are very free, so young people outside of school spend all of their time in their school uniform. Korea, on the other hand, cares a lot about fashion transmission, they follow trends that are fast and too interested in brands, they dye their hair more than Japan and China.
Stereotypical and somewhat racist image in the old newspaper, which received several points of criticism.
The Chinese attach great importance to reputation, behave differently towards family members and differently towards friends. Koreans are usually very persistent, they value family, friendship, etc. The Japanese, on the other hand, do not like to meddle or interfere in the lives of others, preferring harmony with others rather than following their own opinion.
Can you already distinguish between Japanese, Chinese and Koreans?
I don't like memorizing faces, but I can quickly tell an Asian apart through clothing, conversation, and other linguistic details. Things get a little more complicated when we try to find out the origins of a descendant living in Brazil. He's basically Brazilian so we don't have to waste time deciphering his origins. Just ask!
Some claim that there are great similarities between the Japanese and Brazilian tribe of the Tupi Guarani.
The big reality is that Asians are very different and have many variations in their own country. For example, northern Chinese have a square face, small noses, and eyes. Sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish Japanese from Chinese and Korean! Countries mix, Koreans do plastic surgery to enlarge eyes so it gets a little complicated.
With a short time in Japan, you will find that Asians or Japanese are completely different from each other. You are not to blame for the food and the climate that work together with a standardized skin, eyes and body.
You might want to read our other article that explains because the Japanese or Asians have raised their eyes.
In my opinion, the easiest way to differentiate is by language, name and culture. When you think you can differentiate, test your knowledge by searching for quizzes on Google!
