Is the telecommunications industry sustainable

Company of the future: Austrian startup goood combines telecommunications with sustainability

- goood, operator of sustainable mobile phone brands in Germany and Austria, is the first telecommunications company in Europe to receive the B Corp certification

- goood thus makes an important contribution to central challenges such as scarcity of resources, climate change and growing inequality

goood now B Corp certified

The Austrian impact company goood, which operates sustainable mobile phone brands in Germany and Austria with goood mobile, has reached another milestone: It was the first telecommunications company in Europe to be certified as a B Corporation - B Corp. for short. As a pioneer, goood is thus setting an example for sustainable and ethical entrepreneurship in the telecommunications industry.

Purpose and profit are not a contradiction in terms

“The B Corp seal makes transparent what we have stood for since goood was founded: profit and purpose are not a contradiction in terms - also in the telecommunications industry: customers surf and make calls, 10% of their monthly basic fee goes to a socially or ecologically sustainable project. For us, an important milestone has been reached with the certification, which we are very proud of ",
(Claudia Winkler, co-founder and CEO of goood)

The B Corp certification is awarded by the non-profit company B Lab and is the only certification for companies that measures all social and ecological actions and thus goes far beyond conventional product seals or certifications. Bringing economic profit and social and ecological responsibility in harmony is the declared goal of all companies awarded the B Corp certificate. All certified companies undertake to fight poverty and protect the environment. At the same time, they want to strengthen communities and create qualified, decent and meaningful jobs.

goood is part of a global movement

Together with 3,000 other B Corp-certified companies, such as Patagonia, Ben & Jerrys, Innocent, Triodos Bank, Ecosia, or Soulbottles, goood wants to use the power of entrepreneurship to solve social and ecological problems and promote social change through sustainable economic activity.

Example to others

“With our actions, we also want to be a role model for other companies and inspire them to take a step in this direction. In this way we actively contribute to a socially and ecologically more sustainable world. Especially in view of the global challenges such as resource scarcity, climate change and increasing inequality that our society is facing, companies are needed that stand up for a more sustainable future. "

About B Corporation certification

What the FairTrade certification is for coffee or the organic seal for food, B Corp is for sustainably operating companies. B Corp is a global movement of companies dedicated to changing the world for the better. They meet the highest standards of holistic social and environmental development, transparency and responsibility. Alessi, Patagonia, Ben & Jerrys, Innocent, Triodos Bank, Ecosia, Sympatex, Soulbottles and many more have now joined this movement of over 3,000 companies. B Corp certified companies can be found in over 60 countries in Europe and around the world, spanning over 150 different industries.

The B Corp certification process consists of a detailed evaluation that assesses the effects a company's actions have on customers, stakeholders, the environment and employees. Particular emphasis is placed on social and ecological values, the business model, corporate responsibility and transparency, among other things. However, it is not just about measuring the social impact of a company, but also continuously increasing the positive impact.
